Resilience & Sustainability

Burnout, exhaustion, aid fatigue, and other terms all describe the inevitable depletion of personal resources and energy that people working in communities facing various challenges routinely experience.  It creates higher costs, as it enhances turnover, but it also depletes the very important resource of skilled personnel engaged in important community-building work. Whether it is humanitarian aid work, development aid, or community based activism or direct service, one of the most important priorities for any organization hoping to maintain its excellent, productivity and sense of team is to offer resources for people to feel refreshed and rejuvenated in their own individual roles and as a team.  Increasingly, devoting time and resources to resilience and sustainability measures is recognized as a component of good, strong, forward-thinking organizations.
